CBS has renewed freshman drama series Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for a second season, as well as sophomore comedy The Odd Couple for a third season and reality show Undercover Boss for an eighth season. As expected, the list does not include freshman drama Limitless, though CBS has not made its cancellation official. Also not on the list and fully expected to be canceled is new midseason action comedy Rush Hour. (Update: Rush Hour has been canceled.)

CBS is getting a Friends mini-reunion with the Matthew Perry starrer The Odd Couple joining new comedy series Man with a Plan toplined by Matt LeBlanc.

Both Code Black and Beyond Borders had recently received permission from the network to begin making if/come deals with writers for Season 2. Both are co-productions between ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios.

The Odd Couple, which Perry developed with Danny Jacobson based on Neil Simon’s classic, also beyondbordershad been looking good for renewal after a better-than-expected ratings performance for the current second season. The sitcom, from CBS TV Studios, has been consistent and done well behind The Big Bang Theory on Thursday while also holding up OK on Monday. Bob Daily serves as the showrunner.

Medical drama Code Black, from creator/exec producer Michael Seitzman, had been gaining momentum the past couple of weeks. It is expected to undergo some changes for Season 2, with new characters added. It has been a consistent ratings performer, never falling under 1.1 ratings among adults 18-49 in Live+same day.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, starring Gary Sinise and Alana de la Graza, also has held up well, especially when airing behind a new Criminal Minds episode. The mothership series was recently renewed for Season 12. Both shows are overseen by Erica Messer, who also created the spinoff.
