El Chapo Documentary, Ozzy Osbourne Series Highlight History’s Summer Lineup; ‘Six’ Gets Premiere Date

Documentaries about El Chapo, Alexander Hamilton and DB Cooper and a new reality series starring Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack join previously announced event series Roots and docu-drama Barbarians Rising as highlights of History’s summer lineup. The cable also said today that it has slotted July 18 for the premiere of its new military drama series Six.

The Rise and Fall of El Chapo, premiering Monday, August 8, takes an in-depth look at drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and how his international drug cartel impacts the U.S. Alexander Hamilton (working title) explores the American political and financial institutions he helped to create. It premieres Sunday, July 26. DB Cooper, a four-hour docu, looks at the case of the man who hijacked a Northwest Orient flight bound for Seattle in November 1971, said he had a bomb and demanded $200,000 in cash and four parachutes. He later jumped into the night, never to be seen again. It premieres Sunday, July 10. New nonfiction series Ozzy and Jack’s World Detours premieres Wednesday, July 27. It stars heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne and Jack Osbourne as they hit the road on a father-son journey they’ve waited years to take.

As previously announced, event series Roots kicks off the summer programming lineup. Based on Alex Haley’s 1976 bestseller and, of course, the record-breaking 1977 ABC miniseries, the new Roots debuts on May 30. Counting Cars returns with new episodes on July 5 at 9 PM. It will be followed at 10 PM by new non-scripted series Louisiana-set Big Easy Motors, featuring Charles Handler and his team who turn long-forgotten piles of junk into dazzling custom cars. And bladesmith competition series Forged in Fire returns for Season 3 with an increased episode order from ten hourlong episodes to 16.

In the more than 45 years since the epic heist, the FBI has looked at over a thousand potential suspects, but the questions remain: Who is DB Cooper? Did he die? Did he live? And is he still out there? Now, in this four hour documentary series, viewers will go on the trail gaining an unprecedented perspective from the FBI, including exclusive access to the evidence, while a former FBI agent and a crime journalist dive deep into the case revealing new information through exclusive interviews with nearly 20 experts and insiders, including the only people ever to come face to face with the hijacker.
