‘Telenovela’ & ‘Undateable’ Canceled By NBC

NBC has canceled freshman comedy series Telenovela as well as Undateable, which experimented with live shows in its third and final season.

Eva Longoria’s Telenovela debuted alongside another midseason NBC comedy, Superstore. While Superstore was a breakout, quickly landing a renewal, Telenovela got solid reviews while its ratings were so-so. The show ended its freshman run with 2.9 million viewers and a 0.9 in adults 18-49 (Live + same day) for the finale.

The comedy marked Longoria’s return to the TV screen after her breakthrough role on ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

Meanwhile, Undateable, from producer Bill Lawrence, beat expectations with a burn-off summer run, earning a second season renewal. It then clinched a Season 3 pickup with all-live shows but they didn’t draw enough eyeballs on Friday, despite a string of star cameos.
