‘Galavant’ Canceled By ABC After 2 Seasons

Lost in the carnage at ABC, which canceled a lot of shows today, was Galavant, the quirky little musical medieval comedy, which too has been formally canceled after two seasons. The producers themselves had called the Season 2 renewal “a miracle.” With creator Dan Fogelman and the show’s biggest supporter, former ABC topper Paul Lee, out of the Disney fold, the softly-rated comedy had little chance of continuing. But both the Galavant creator and star are. Fogelman’s Fox pilot Pitch was picked up to series, and his NBC pilot This Is Us also is looking strong. (UPDATE: That pilot was ordered to series too.) Star Joshua Sasse plays the male lead in the CW drama pilot No Tomorrow, which was just picked up to series.

This may not be the last we hear of Galavant — the show’s composer, Oscar winner Alan Menken, indicated on Twitter that a stage version is in the works.
