Jimmy Kimmel Announces He’s Running For Vice President Of United States

Jimmy Kimmel tonight revealed he’s running for Vice President of the United States. Kimmel announced his candidacy for the country’s second highest office without a POTUS running mate, making him the second candidate this election cycle who pundits say has a complete lack of understanding of the political process.

“It’s time to take our country back. From whom?  I don’t know, but I want it back!” Kimmel said to supporters on Hollywood Blvd. “As Vice President of the United States, I will never stop fighting for you. Unless Game of Thrones is on. In which case, I will stop fighting for an hour, or slightly more, depending how many times I have to rewind to figure out what’s going on.”

He urged voters to “spread the word” and “be part of the revolution.”
Guess which network was all over it immediately?  CNN anchors Jake Tapper, Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer fired questions at the candidate to discuss his newly announced campaign. “Do you think you’ll make a mockery of this election?” asked Tapper. “I think it’s too late for anyone to do that” countered Kimmel.

No doubt he will discuss his campaign on Monday, when he’s scheduled to be Kelly Ripa’s first Live! guest co-host after tomorrow’s bow-out of Michael Strahan, who is headed to Good Morning America.  Same day, Kimmel also can talk about his campaign when he stops by ABC News’s daytime talker The View.

Tuesday, we’re sure to hear more about his platform when he speaks to media buyers and station execs during his traditional seventh-innning stretch at ABC’s Upfront presentation in Lincoln Center. Kimmel’s annual Upfront appearance, in which he skewers the week-long orgy of new-show touting, the media buyers, ABC’s competitors, his own network and even his boss – and this year apparently, also makes campaign promises – always is one of the high points of the week.

Kimmel’s known for his gag announcements. Remember when Kimmel announced Donald Trump’ “bombshell revelation”?
