On the heels of strong ratings for its Dear Mama Mother’s Day special, VH1 has renewed the program, produced by Queen Latifah, as an annual Mother’s Day event.
Dear Mama drew 1.5 million total viewers Sunday night, driving the network to its strongest Sunday in nearly a year and besting its time period by +132% among adults 18-49, according to VH1. The special also did well on social, reaching more than seven million people across Facebook and Instagram with 3.6 million video views.
Anthony Anderson hosted the program which included Queen Latifah, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Rita Ora, Alicia Keys, Alessia Cara, and Trey, Jaden, and Willow Smith, along with performances by Mary J. Blige and Boyz II Men.
VH1, Flavor Unit and Jesse Collins Entertainment are the producers.
