Rob Huebel Paddles Out To ‘Baywatch’; Carla Juri Joins ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital) has joined the cast of Paramount’s Baywatch, the feature film based on the iconic TV series. Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Priyanka Chopra star in the pic, which director Seth Gordon is shooting now. Set for release in May 2017, the film follows a former Olympian who butts heads with the leader of an elite team of lifeguards. Huebel will play Captain Thorpe; in the series’ first two seasons, he was a senior lifeguard played by Monte Markham. Huebel recently wrapped production on the seventh and final season of Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital, on which he stars as Dr. Owen Maestro. He is onscreen in the Key & Peele catnapping pic Keanu and appears in the upcoming Will Ferrell-Amy Poehler comedy The House. He is repped by UTA, Principato Young and Jackoway Tyerman

Carla Juri (Morris From America) is joining for the untitled follow-up to Blade Runner, which stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright. As has been the case with most of the film’s castings, there are no details on Juri’s character. Shooting is set to begin in July on the pic from Denis Villenueve, who is directing a script by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. The story picks up several decades after the conclusion of Ridley Scott’s 1982 original. Thunderbird Films CEOs Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble are executive producers along with Scott and Bill Carraro. Warner Bros will open the film from Alcon Entertainment on October 6, 2017. Sony has overseas rights. Swiss actress Juri’s credits include a pair of films that bowed at Sundance: 2014’s Wetlands and this year’s Morris From America. A24 will release the latter in the fall. Repped by Anonymous Content, UTA and Curtis Brown, she next appears in the features Walking to Paris, Paula and Brimstone.
