Though she was in town last week, it’s been nearly a month since Hillary Clinton was last in L.A. hoovering up that reliable Hollywood cash – but fear not, the former First Lady is coming back in less than two weeks. Long time Clinton supporter and CAA head honcho Bryan Lourd is set to co-host a $10,000 top ticket fundraiser for the Democratic contender on May 23.
Lourd and his partner Bruce Bozzi will fete Clinton and some deep-ish pocketed backers at their Westside home in the late afternoon of that Monday. Along with the CAA managing parter and The Palm chain co-owner, more of the gang will be involved with Vogue boss and past Clinton fundraising host Anna Wintour co-hosting as well. Tickets will range from the individual primary maximum of $2,700 to $10,000 for co-hosts, who get that obligatory photo with the candidate. Named to the Kennedy Center Board by President Barack Obama in 2014, Lourd has been a solid source of cash for the Democrats over the years. Among other moneyed appearances in recent election cycles, he was one of the A-listers at the multi-million dollar raising April 16 fundraiser hosted by George and Amal Clooney at their L.A. pad.
This latest Clinton visit comes nearly two weeks before the California primary. Though Clinton is far ahead of rival Sen. Bernie Sanders in delegates and superdelegates, the Golden State race could provide either a knock out punch or a PR embarrassment for her.
Clinton being Clinton, there is another fundraiser scheduled for the evening of May 23 with some other big Hollywood names participating, I hear. This will be the ex-Secretary of State’s 12th visit to L.A. since officially announcing her run for the White House in April 2015. Clinton has conducted 26 fundraisers on those visits.
