VMI Worldwide Swings Political Satire ‘Swing State’ Into Cannes

VMI Worldwide

EXCLUSIVE: VMI Worldwide has acquired Jonathan Sheldon’s satirical feature Swing State for worldwide representation and will be selling the movie at the Cannes Film Market that kicked off today.

Described by VMI as a “sharp and of-the-moment picture (that) pokes fun at the fallacies of the democratic process and the ignorance of some American voters,” Swing State follows a liberal DJ who invents a fictitious conservative radio personality that becomes an overnight sensation. The ensemble comedy, written and directed by Jonathan Sheldon, stars Orange Is the New Black‘s Taryn Manning along with Billy Zane, Angela Kinsey, Sean Astin, Ted Levine, Elaine Hendrix and Alex Beh.

Sheldon produces with Doug Magallon, Adam Falkoff, Kenneth Prieto, Diego Espana and Brian Finn. Jeff Rice, Arthur L. Bernstein, Alan Marino, Brigitte Mueller, Michael Reznick and VMI’s Andre Relis are executive producers.

“We believe that in the current political climate where truth appears stranger than fiction, Jonathan Sheldon’s sharp and funny take on extreme partisan politics will really resonate with audiences,”  VMI President Andre Relis said.

The ensemble also features Jake Busey, Nick Loeb, Lydia Hearst, Parry Shen, Richard Riehle, Richard Portnow and Mark L. Young.
