Entertainment One’s boutique division Seville International has racked up strong sales to Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only The End Of The World ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
It’s Only The End of the World is an adaptation of the play by Jean-Luc Lagarce, and tells of the afternoon of a young author who, after 12 years of absence, returns to his native village to tell his family about his impending death. Its starry cast include Marion Cotillard, Vincent Cassel, Léa Seydoux, Natalie Baye and Gaspard Ulliel. The Canadian-French co-pro is produced by Nancy Grant and Dolan (Sons Of Manual), Nathanaël Karmitz (MK2), as well as Sylvain Corbeil.
Seville, led by Anick Poirier, has closed Germany (Weltkino), Benelux (ABC Cinemien), Scandinavia/Iceland (Scanbox), Spain (Avalon), Switzerland (Praesens), Portugal (Alambique), Greece/Cyprus (Seven Films), Australia (Transmission), Latin America (California Filmes), Turkey (Kurmaca), Poland (Hagi), Russia/CIS (A-One Films), Former Yugoslavia (Discovery Films), Czech/Slovak Republics (Aerofilms), Romania (Independenta), Baltic States (Spektr), Israel (Lev Films), South Korea (At9 Films), Hong Kong (Edko), China (Lemon Tree), Taiwan (Filmware International), as well as ancillary sales to Skeye Inflight Entertainment.
The film’s producers are Sons of Manual and MK2, which is handling France, where the film will be distributed by Diaphana/MK2. Previously announced sales include the UK (Curzon Artificial Eye), Italy (Lucky Red) and Japan (Pictures Dept). eOne subsidiary Les Films Séville has Canada, where it will open on September 21.
