John Brotherton, who recurred in Season 1 as D.J. Tanner-Fuller’s (Candace Cameron-Bure) love interest, has been promoted to series regular for the second season of Netflix’s Fuller House.

Brotherton plays Matt Harmon, Dr. Fred Harmon’s son, a successful veterinarian who reconnected with D.J. when he came to town to help out while his father was on vacation.

Netflix last month renewed the reboot of the 1980s sitcom Full House for a second season. The 13-episode Season 1 continued the family adventures that began on the original show, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure) recently widowed and living in San Francisco and raising her three sons with the help of her younger sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and childhood pal Kimmy Gibler (Andrea Barber).

Brotherton’s previous credits include Furious 7 and The Conjuring and will next be seen in Precious Cargo opposite Bruce Willis and Claire Forlani.
