Hillary Clinton Bails On ‘Good Morning America’ Town Hall As Bernie Sanders Heads to Vatican City

Less than 24 hours after ABC News announced Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton would participate in a town hall with George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts tomorrow morning on Good Morning America, Clinton canceled.

“Due to a scheduling issue,  the Good Morning America town hall event with Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton will not be airing tomorrow,” ABC News said this afternoon, adding, “Information regarding a rescheduled appearance with Clinton to come.”

But, given that GMA has another town hall set for Monday, with Sen. Ted Cruz, and that the New York primary is set for the next day, April 19, it’s unlikely Clinton’s sit down will happen before that key primary.

Clinton was to have been GMA town hall-ing as her Dem rival Bernie Sanders was attending a Vatican City economic conference. Both candidates are set to debate tonight in Brooklyn, hosted by CNN. Sanders’ decision to take a break from the campaign after that, to head to Rome, leaves the local field open to Clinton for a short window, though she’s jetting to California for a Bay Area fundraising dinner tomorrow, followed by another at the George and Amal Clooney residence on Saturday.

Realistically, tonight’s debate probably will own tomorrow morning’s news cycle. And, Sanders is scheduled to return to town on Saturday, ahead of Clinton.

Clinton is expected to win the New York primary where she’s leading in recent polls by double digits.
