‘Game Of Silence’ Ratings Debut OK, ‘iZombie’ Finale Even With 2015, ‘New Girl’ Up

CBS didn’t have any original skin in the game last night, but there were debuts, finales and spycraft all across primetime otherwise. Tuesday’s debut, of course, being the preview of Game Of Silence (1.5/5) on NBC. That choice post-The Voice (2.2/8) spot has been the Comcast-owned net’s booster rocket of launching new shows and on Tuesday, lift-off was solid for the David Hudgins and Carol Mendelsohn adaptation of a Turkish drama.

Winning its 10 PM slot and holding on to all of Chicago Fire’s rating of last week in the slot, GoS also came out ahead of March 22’s Heartbeat, the last drama to debut post-Voice, by 7% among adults 18-49. Viewership-wise, GoS was pretty steady with the 9 PM medical drama’s March 22 premiere with just a 4% rise to 6.53 million. Moving to its regular slot of Thursday at 10 PM on April 14, the premiere of GoS was down 12% from what half-hour comedy Crowded, which debuted in the post-Voice 10 PM slot on March 15, also a Tuesday, pulled in among the key demo. Unsurprisingly, almost all of the post-Voice previews of NBC’s have seen significant drops once they are out on their own so eyes are on GoS for later this week.

Then again, with The Voice pretty much even with its last Tuesday original of March 29, NBC won’t be too worried about that right now, or any apples to oranges genre comparison, as they easily won the night – at least in the demo. The net drew a 2.0/7 overall rating and inched ahead of encore full CBS’s viewership of 9.31 million with a top spot o f 9.32 million.

Over on the CW, it was all iZombie all night as the undead medical drama had a 2-part Season 2 finale with both 8 PM and 9 PM episodes, both of which got a 0.5/2 rating That’s up a tenth from last week and even with iZombie’s Season 1 finale of June 9 last year – when it faced Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Both Fox and ABC were a mix of repeats and originals last night with the latter’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1.0/3) up 11% from its April 5 show and 10 PM’s often struggling Beyond The Tank (0.6/2) rising 20%. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.9/3) and The Grinder (0.6/2) were even with their last shows of last week and March 15, respectively. The just-renewed New Girl (1.1/4) was up a solid 22% among the 18-49s from its last show of March 29.
