Seth Green Joins Netflix National Lampoon Biopic ‘A Futile & Stupid Gesture’

Casting continues on Netflix’s A Futile & Stupid Gesture, with Seth Green signing on to play Christopher Guest in the film based on the bestselling 2006 book by Josh Karp about the troubled life and storied career of National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney. Directed by The Wet Hot American Summer‘s David Wain and written by Michael Colton and John Aboud, the film will also examine how the magazine changed American comedy in 1970s and ’80s.

Will Forte stars as Kenney, with Joel McHale as Chevy Chase, Domnhall Gleeson as Henry Beard and Thomas Lennon as Michael O’Donoghue. Jackie Tohn, Matt Walsh, Rick Glassman and Jon Daly also appear.

The co-creator and primary voice actor for Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken, Green has also voiced Chris Griffin on The Family Guy since the first episode. His other credits include Sexy Evil Genius, The Story Of Luke, Party Monster, The Italian Job and the Austin Powers trilogy. His production company Stoopid Buddy Stoodios has several projects in the works including Crackle’s SuperMansion, Hot Streets and OMG! Earth for Adult Swim, and WWE’s Camp WWE. He’s repped by UTA, Koopman Management and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern LLC.

Peter Principato and Jonathan Stern are producing A Futile & Stupid Gesture, with Wain, Colton, Aboud, Ed Helms, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm on as executive producers. Shooting is set to begin this month with release planned on Netflix in 2017.
