Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser & Others Join Lake Bell’s Comedy ‘What’s the Point?’

EXCLUSIVE: Lake Bell has lined up a nice ensemble cast for her new feature comedy What’s the Point? (And Other Fair Questions About Marriage). Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, Amber Heard are joining Ed Helms and Bell in the movie, which looks at the concept that marriage should be a seven-year contract with an option to renew.

Dolly Wells (45 Years), Wyatt Cenac (The Daily Show) and Chace Crawford (Olsky) also have joined the cast of the pic, which is going before the cameras this month.

The film is the follow-up to In A World…, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013 and earned Bell the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. In fact, she received several nominations and awards including an Independent Spirit Award Nomination for Best First Screenplay.

What’s the Point? is being produced by Bell (More Films), Jett Steiger (Ways & Means), Miranda Bailey and Amanda Marshall (Cold Iron Pictures) with executive producers Jason Beck and Andy Bohn (The Film Arcade).

Steenburgen (The Last Man on Earth) is repped by UTA and Management 360; Reiser (Married) is with Gersh and New Wave Entertainment; Heard (Aquaman) is with WME; Wells is repped by UTA, Independent Talent Group and Anonymous Content; Cenac is with UTA and Avalon; and Crawford is repped by CAA and Podwall Entertainment.
