Jason Jones & Samantha Bee’s Comedy ‘The Detour’ Renewed For Season 2 By TBS Ahead Of Premiere

Just like it did with Steve Carell’s Angie Tribeca, TBS has renewed its new comedy series from two other Daily Show alums, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee’s The Detour, ahead of its premiere. The network has ordered a 13-episode second season several days before the show’s official launch on April 11. Created, written and executive-produced by Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, The Detour is an often too honest look at the family dynamic and the chaos that can erupt from not being honest with the ones we love. Jones, Natalie Zea, Ashley Gerasimovich and Liam Carroll star.

“I’m very excited to be going back to making my favorite show not yet on TV and look forward to making outrageous demands in my rider for the second season,” said Jones.

The renewal comes on the heels of TBS also picking up Bee’s new late-night show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee through the end of 2016.

“Jason and Sam’s vision and execution of the first season was original and unexpected at every ridiculous turn,” said Brett Weitz, EVP of original programming for TBS. “Having Jason as Executive Producer, Director and Star really brought a definition to the voice of the characters and a realism to this family.”

TBS sneaked The Detour during its coverage of the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament. Starting today, TBS also is making the pilot available to stream online.

The Detour is executive produced by Jason Jones, Samantha Bee, Brennan Shroff and Tony Hernandez.
