EXCLUSIVE: Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have told the life stories of many eccentric geniuses. After the duo exec produced the celebrated FX event series The People V. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, they just made a deal with Amazon Studios to script a feature on the sculptor Gutzon Borglum, whose memorable and sometimes controversial stone work includes the presidential heads on Mount Rushmore.
Amazon has acquired Great Men, a feature the duo pitched which they’ll script based on the John Taliaferro book Great White Fathers. Alexander and Karaszewski will also produce. Amazon Studios acquired the book as part of the package.
The writing team’s feature collaborations range from the Tim Burton-directed Ed Wood to The People Vs. Larry Flynt, Man On The Moon and most recently the Burton-directed Big Eyes. In their first major small-screen foray, they wrote five episodes of The People V. OJ Simpson, which completes its 10-episode run tonight. They also ran the writers room on the limited series for Ryan Murphy.
Alexander and Karaszewski are represented by CAA and Christine Cuddy at Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo. ICM Partners represented the book.
