George C. Reeves Jr Dies At 78: Former Exec & Writer Is Father Of Director Matt Reeves

George C Reeves Jr Dies

George C. Reeves Jr died in hospice at his West Los Angeles home on March 24 after a long bout with prostate cancer. His children, Dawn and Matthew, were at his side. He was 78.

During his lifetime, Reeves worked variously as a successful lawyer and business affairs executive at American International Pictures, the American Broadcast Company, Intermedia Entertainment, Triad Talent Agency, and New World Television. He was also a TV producer and writer: In 1981, he wrote and produced the semi-autobiographical ABC telepic Crazy Times starring Ray Liotta, David Caruso and Michael Pare.

Dogs were his greatest passion, and Reeves devoted much of his time and interest to the protection of animals.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ASPCA.
