The legal drama, which Kelley co-wrote with his Practice and Boston Legal producer Jonathan Shapiro, centers on Billy McBride (Thornton). Once a big and powerful lawyer, Billy has become a shell of his former self after losing a case that saw an innocent kid murdered. His guilt-driven alcoholism cost him his wife and his job as his longtime partner Cooper turned on him and kicked him out of their law firm. Still hanging onto his dry charisma, Billy is now going head-to-head against Cooper, bringing a case against his former partner, which begins to stir in him his old ambition. Arianda will play Patty Solis-Papagian, a fast-talking, go-getter attorney. William Hurt, Olivia Thirlby, Maria Bello and Sarah Wynter also star.
Arianda most recently starred on Broadway in Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love and next will be seen in Paramount’s Florence Foster Jenkins, set for release this summer. Her other film credits include Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, Tom McCarthy’s Win Win, Vera Farmiga’s Higher Ground and Brett Ratner’s Tower Heist. She is repped by ICM Partners and attorney Ira Schreck.
