‘Special Correspondents’ Trailer: Eric Bana & Ricky Gervais Fake It In The Name Of Journalism

“I think we so better off here in New York than in Ecuador — we’ve got wine, snacks, not being shot at.” That pretty much sums up the premise of Netflix’s original movie Special Correspondents, in which Frank (Eric Bana), an arrogant radio journalist whose job is on the line, pretends to be doing reports live from a war-torn South American country, aided and abetted by his sound engineer Finch (Ricky Gervais). Truth is, they’re hiding out in a building across the street from their station.

Special CorrespondentsAs their harrowing “front-line reports” get more attention, Frank’s TV anchor rival (Benjamin Bratt) reports that the pair have gone missing in the war zone. “Everyone is looking for us,” Frank tells his sound man, “which means we have to go to Ecuador for real.” Of course, this leads to actual harrowing situations as the guys become heroic media darlings back in the states.

America Ferrara, Vera Farmiga, Kelly Macdonald and Kevin Pollak co-star in the satrical comedy written and directed by Gervais. Netflix will start streaming the pic on April 29.
