‘NBC Nightly News’ Tops Evening News Viewing After ISIS’ Brussels Attacks

Associated Press

The Lester Holt-anchored NBC Nightly News logged 8.8 million viewers last night, topping the David Muir-anchored World News Tonight (8M) on ABC, and the Scott Pelley-helmed CBS Evening News (7.2M).

In the news demo, 25-54 years, NBC’s newscast (2.2M) also topped ABC’s (1.8M) and CBS’ (1.7M).

All three newscasts were expanded to a full hour, reporting more fully on yesterday morning’s ISIS bombings in Brussels, but Nielsen rated each program’s regular half-hour time slot. Each newscast experienced bigger numbers than usual for a Tuesday night, owing to viewer interest in news about the morning’s bombings.
