Warner Bros. Adds Four To 2017: Ben Affleck’s ‘Live By Night’, ‘Annabelle 2’ & More

Warner Bros. announced this morning four additions to its 2017 slate. Ben Affleck’s fourth feature as director Live By Night is getting a prime fall spot of October 20. Affleck directs, adapted and stars in Dennis Lehane’s Prohibition-era set novel about a Boston petty thief who rises to become the Gulf Coast’s most successful rum runner. Currently the only other title scheduled on that weekend is a Blumhouse film from Universal.

New Line/Village Roadshow’s comedy Fist Fight starring Ice Cube, Charlie Day,  Christina Hendricks, Jillian Bell and Tracy Morgan is scheduled for February 17, Presidents’ Day weekend. That’s a cutthroat time: There’s Sony’s anticipated The Dark Tower, 20th Century Fox’s threequel Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and Universal’s Matt Damon movie The Great Wall. Pic follows a school teacher (Day), who after getting the other fired (Cube), is challenged to an after-school fight.

Annabelle 2 from New Line is set to scare on May 19, the weekend before Memorial Day four-day stretch. The scary doll is going to have to claw it out with Paramount’s big-screen version of Baywatch then.

The Burbank-based studio has also reserved August 11 for an untitled event film. Currently, there’s just Sony’s Emoji Movie there.
