‘Making A Murderer’ Creators Sign With CAA

CAA has signed Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, the writers and directors of pop-culture phenom Making A Murderer. The duo, who previously didn’t have agency representation, had been pursued by all major agencies.

Ricciardi and Demos shot to fame with their 10-part Netflix documentary chronicling the case of convicted murderer Steven Avery, which took a decade to make. A second season is under consideration at the streaming network, with Ricciardi and Demos already working on future episodes.

Making A murderer 1During their graduate studies at Columbia University’s School of the Arts MFA film program, Ricciardi and Demos stumbled upon a New York Times article, which chronicled a Wisconsin man, Steven Avery, and a legal battle of epic proportions. Fascinated, the duo decided to put their film degrees (and Laura’s JD from New York Law School) to use, spending the next decade producing, directing, and editing over 700 hours of film on the Steven Avery case that became Making a Murderer. The hit docuseries has sparked global debate about class, the American justice system, and due process – including a recent correspondence with President Obama and The White House regarding potential exoneration for Steven Avery.

Ricciardi and Demos continue to be repped by attorney Ron Levin of the Levin Law Corporation.
