Everyone but The CW had all originals last night and it was a close race between ABC and CBS for the top spot among adults 18-49. The Disney-owned net took the gold again with a 1.2/4 compared with the House of Moonves’ 1.1/4. With a full schedule, both networks were up 20% and 22%, respectively, from their overall March 4 results, with CBS winning total viewers this week with an audience of 7.89 million.
With Blue Bloods (1.3/5) and Shark Tank (1.3/5) tied for the No. 1 spot in the key demo, both shows were up a tenth from their last originals of February 26. Otherwise, CBS’ night saw The Amazing Race (1.0/4) down 9% from last week and Hawaii Five-0 (1.1/4) even with its last new show of two weeks ago. The Tom Selleck-led NYPD drama was again the most watched show of the night with 9.95 million tuning in, down 4% from its last new show. Fox’s Sleepy Hollow (0.8/3) was up 14% in 18-49 from its slippage of last week. Lead-out Second Chance (0.5/2) was even again with its previous week.
ABC’s Last Man Standing (1.1/5) was also even with its last original of February 26, which was a season low. Falling under a 1.0 rating for the first time, lead-out Dr. Ken (0.9/4) took an 18% tumble to hit a low in fast-affiliate results. Last week, the Ken Jeong-led sitcom was up to a three-month demo high and that was with a LMS encore as a lead-in. ABC’s night ended with 20/20 (1.1/4), with David Muir’s “Breaking Point: Heroin In America” special report seeing the news mag rise 22% — the second double-digit 20/20 demo rise in the past two weeks.
Third in the 10 PM slot, NBC’s Dateline (0.9/3) was the same as last week as was Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon (0.7/3) with its last new show of two weeks back. At 9 PM, Grimm (0.9/3) matches its fast-affiliate result of March 4 but it’s down a tenth from the final number the drama drew after an adjustment in fast nationals. Whether that happens this week is, of course, to be seen.
Not getting much of a ratings giggle, the CW ran a Just For Laughs Starring Howie Mandel special (0.3/1) from 8-9:30 PM. To add context, the Whose Line Is It Anyway? encore that followed snagged the same rating.
