‘The Powerpuff Girls’ Revival Gets Premiere Date On Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network’s revival of the popular franchise will bow with back-to-back episodes starting at 6 PM Monday, April 4. The Powerpuff Girls then will air each weeknight at 6 PM through April 15 as a lead-in to the show’s regular time slot on Thursdays at 6 PM beginning April 21.

Ahead of the April TV debut, the series will premiere Monday at SXSW festival in Austin, followed by premieres around the globe including Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Superhero sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are known to their fellow citizens of Townsville as the Powerpuff Girls. Together, they protect their beautiful, bustling metropolis from sinister evildoers, intent on taking over. Juggling school, homework and a regular parade of villains is no easy task, but the Powerpuff Girls are more than up to the challenge. Armed with supercool superpowers and some topnotch teamwork, the Powerpuff Girls, with occasional assistance from Professor Utonium and the Mayor of Townsville, show their hometown and the world that it is possible to save the world before bedtime.

The initial run of The Powerpuff Girls, created by Craig McCracken, premiered in 1996 and earned two Emmy Awards along with five nominations and numerous animation honors throughout its 78 episodes. The series also spawned a Warner Bros feature in 2002.

The Powerpuff Girls is produced by Cartoon Network Studios, with Nick Jennings (Adventure Time, SpongeBob SquarePants) serving as executive producer and Bob Boyle (Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!) as co-executive producer.
