‘The Master Cleanse’ SXSW Clip: Who Knows What Evil Lurks In A Clogged Drain?

Here’s a clip from The Master Cleanse, which is described as “a trippy and fantastic journey that examines how we deal with the things that weigh us down in life.” Here we see Johnny Galecki finding more than he expected when trying to fix a clogged drain. First-timer Bobby Miller wrote and directed the film, which premieres Sunday in the Narrative Spotlight section at SXSW and asks the question: Given the opportunity to literally face your demons, what would you do?

Down, out, and heartbroken, Paul (Galecki) attends a spiritual retreat to cleanse himself and fix his broken life. But he soon discovers that the cleanse releases more than everyday toxins — a lot more. Anna Friel, Kyle Gallner, Diana Bang, Kevin J. O’Conn0r, Oliver Platt and Anjelica Huston co-star. The executive producers are Gary Gilbert, Margot Hand, Jason Cloth, Alan Simpson and John Raymonds; producers are Jordan Horowitz, Aaron L. Gilbert, Johnny Galecki
The pic also screens next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Austin fest.
