Co-created by Liz Friedman, who wrote the script, and Liz Friedlander, who will direct, Conviction stars Atwell as Hayes, the brilliant but ne’er-do-well daughter of a former President who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. She, along with her team of lawyers, investigators and forensics experts, work together to examine cases where there’s credible suspicion that the wrong person may have been convicted of a crime.
Cahill will play the confident and self-assured New York District Attorney Wayne Wallis. Incredibly handsome, magnetic and charismatic, Wallis radiates charm, smarts and political power; he has a clear-cut political future that is as brilliant as his million dollar smile; he is politically ambitious and sharp as a tack. Wallis announces the creation of the Conviction Integrity Unit — and appoints Hayes to lead the charge. There is a history between the two of them — and the dynamic is equal parts lust and hatred.
In addition to Atwell, Cahill joins recently cast Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey, Emily Kinney and Manny Montana.
Cahill, who played homicide detective Don Flack on CBS’ long-running crime drama CSI: NY, was recently seen on CBS’ Under The Dome. He is repped by UTA and Management 360.
