‘Episodes’ Kathleen Rose Perkins To Co-Star In ABC Comedy Pilot ‘Pearl’

Episodes’ co-star Kathleen Rose Perkins has been cast opposite Candice Bergen in ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Pearl, reuniting with director Jim Field Smith who helmed the second season of the Showtime comedy.

Written/executive produced by Andrew Reich and directed by Smith, Pearl centers on Pearl (Bergen), a larger-than-life family matriarch who, after she finds out she has cancer, becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family’s life before she dies. Perkins will play Virginia, Pearl’s daughter who has the not-so-easy task of trying to get along with her mother, given the news about her health.

Perkins plays the talented but insecure TV executive Carol Rance on Episodes. Production on the praised Hollywood comedy’s 5th and final season is set to begin in the UK mid-April, between filming on the Pearl pilot and a potential first season. Showtime is yet to officially confirm that Season 5, which will air in 2017, will be Episodes‘ last.

Perkins is the second Episodes star to book a pilot this season, joining Matt LeBlanc, who is toplining the CBS comedy I’m Your Friend. Perkins, who recently recurred on the USA drama Colony, is repped by Gersh and Trademark Talent.

Also cast in the Pearl pilot is Zach Knighton who plays Pearl’s son and Virginia’s brother, Billy. ABC Studios is the studio.
