‘One Day At a Time’: Stephen Tobolowsky Cast In Netflix Latino Family Remake

Stephen Tobolowsky is set to co-star opposite Justina Machado and Rita Moreno in One Day At A Time, Netflix’s remake of Norman Lear’s classic sitcom.
The 13-episode multi-camera comedy, written by Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce, revolves around a Cuban-American family. It centers on Penelope (Machado), a recently separated former military mom who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the “help” of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider. Moreno plays the grandmother.
Tobolowsky will play Penelope’s boss Dr. Berkowitz, the widowed lead doctor where she works and a potential love interest for Abuela (Moreno). Penelope keeps his office in order and often his personal life, too, because he is a sweet disaster.
Royce and Kellett executive produce the reimagining of the 1975 series alongside Lear, Michael Garcia and Brent Miller. Netflix had no comment.
Tobolowsky just completed 8 out of the 10 episodes from the next season of HBO’s Silicon Valley and continues to recur on ABC’s The Goldbergs. He is repped by Steven Levy at Framework Entertainment and Innovative.
