20th Century TV’s SVP Drama Lisa Katz & SVP Comedy Dana Honor To Depart

Two high-level development executives at 20th Century Fox TV, SVP of drama development Lisa Katz and SVP comedy development Dana Honor, will be leaving the studio at the end of their current contracts in July. Both opted not to enter new contracts.

Katz and Honor — both well respected in the Hollywood community — are leaving on good terms to pursue other opportunities, possibly in broadcast, cable or SVOD. (Katz’s name has been mentioned in connection to the head of drama vacancy at ABC.)

Katz and Honor’s departure is not related to the ongoing voluntary buyout program at Fox’s film and TV divisions. The duo, who were promoted to SVP in 2012, have been at the studio for roughly 12 years and not eligible for the buyouts. Following the 2014 promotions of Jonnie Davis and Michael Thorn to oversee both comedy and drama, Katz and Honor became the studio’s highest ranked drama and comedy development executives, respectively.

For the next few months, Katz and Honor will remain focused on 20th TV’s crop of 15 broadcast pilots, including series Shots Fired — seven on the drama side and 8 comedies. During that time, the studio will be looking for their replacements.

Katz, who developed Fox’s long-running drama Bones in her first year as a development executive at the studio, recently helped develop mega hit Empire and promising freshman Rosewood for Fox. Other series that she had worked on in the development stage include Sleepy Hollow, The Unit and Lie To Me. Katz joined 20th TV after a seven year stint at Brillstein Grey.

Most recently, Honor developed CBS’ freshman comedy Life in Pieces and Fox’s critically praised The Last Man on Earth. She also has been working on the upcoming animation/live action hybrid series Son of Zorn, from Last Man executive producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

Honor’s list of development includes series Fresh off the Boat, Raising Hope and Modern Family. Honor began her career as an executive at Silver Pictures. At 20th TV, she started off as a current programming executive.
