‘Code Black’ Ratings Rise In Finale, ‘Supernatural’ Down, ‘black-ish’ & ‘Arrow’ Up

There were small upticks all over last night in primetime, but the real rise went to Code Black (1.2/4). Coming off a low last week, the CBS freshman medical drama saw a 20% jump among adults 18-49 for its Season 1 finale Wednesday. In overall viewers, it saw a 14% rise to 6.91 million as the medical drama  awaits word on a renewal.

Overall, CBS matched Fox for the 18-49 top spot with a 1.7/5 rating and won the night in total viewers with 8.11 million watching. The net’s night started off well, with the second week of the latest season of Survivor (2.0/7) actually up 5%. However, the long-running reality series was not the most watched show of the night like last week. In fact, it wasn’t even the second most watched: lead-out Criminal Minds (1.8/6) scored that honor with 8.81 million tuning in. Among the demo, Criminal Minds was even with its last original February 10.

With an audience of 8.92 million, the most watched show of Wednesday’s primetime was American Idol (2.1/7), also the night’s second highest rated show. The competition series got a bit more good news with an uptick of a tenth from last week’s season low. That was also true of its lead-out Hell’s Kitchen (1.3/4). The Gordon Ramsay-hosted series bopped up 8% among the demo from its February 17 episode.

The early results are a bit mixed for the CW, with an abducting Arrow (1.0/3) up 11% but Supernatural (0.7/2) declining 13%.

NBC’s night started and ended a lot like last week, with The Mysteries Of Laura (1.0/3) and Chicago P.D. (1.6/6) even. The same is true for ABC’s The Middle (1.9/6), though fellow comedy The Goldbergs (1.9/6) was down 5%. The rest of ABC’s night of Modern Family (2.5/8), which was the highest-rated show of Wednesday’s prime, a very poignant Black-ish (1.9/6) and American Crime (0.9/3) were all up a tenth from their February 17 episodes. The middle part of NBC’s evening did not fare the same, with Law & Order: SVU (1.5/5) down 12% in the demo from last week.
