David Litt, who has served as special assistant to POTUS and senior presidential speechwriter has joined Funny or Die’s Washington D.C. office as head writer and producer of Funny or Die D.C.
Litt, who began working in the White House in 2011, served as the lead joke writer for the last four White House Correspondents’ Dinners. In that capacity, he helped write and produce for the White House Keegan-Michael Key’s appearance as “Luther the Anger Translator,” onstage with Obama, which was viewed more than 35 million times on Facebook. Litt, who’s currently working on a book about his experience as a 20-something in the White House, “That Hopey, Changey Thing,” already has worked on Funny or Die’s Between Two Ferns.
“We’re thrilled to have David join the Funny Or Die DC team,” Mike Farah, President of Production of Funny Or Die, said in today’s announcement. “He’s funny, clearly much smarter than all of us, and bears a striking resemblance to Tommy Boy era David Spade, which means a lot to us.”

Litt will head up all FOD DC creative, reporting to Brad Jenkins, Managing Director and Executive Producer (and former White House colleague).
In addition to his writing for the White House, Litt has written for The Onion and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. A 2008 graduate of Yale University, David began performing standup comedy in 2002 and improv comedy in 2004. He is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) for film and television, and by Levine-Greenberg-Rostan for publishing.
