Donnie Yen Moves From ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff ‘Rogue One’ To ‘xXx 3: The Return Of Xander Cage’

International martial arts and Ip Man star Donnie Yen has another big studio job to follow Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He’ll square off against Vin Diesel in xXx 3: The Return Of Xander Cage at Paramount. Yen will play an alpha-warrior named Xiang, who battles the extreme sports-turned-secret agent Cage in a race for a doomsday weapon. It starts shooting this month in Toronto and the Dominican Republic for Revolution Studios, Roth Kirschenbaum Films, One Race Films and Paramount.

Yen joins a diverse cast that includes Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Tony Jaa, Orange Is The New Black‘s Ruby Rose, mixed martial-arts sensation Conor McGregor, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, Kris Wu, Hermione Corfield, Toni Collette and Samuel L. Jackson. DJ Caruso is directing from a script by London Has Fallen scribe Chad St. John, with revisions from F. Scott Frazier.

Yen stars in Crouching Tiger: Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny, opposite Michelle Yeoh. He is repped by CAA.
