France Télévisions Boards ‘The Collection’ Fashion Drama; Joins Amazon, BBC

Produced by Lookout Point, The Collection is the first UK original set by Amazon which earlier co-commissioned with BBC Worldwide. France Télévisions has now joined as co-commissioner for France 3. This co-production model is the first time a European public national broadcaster has collaborated with a major SVOD platform, a global distributor, and a British production company, on an English-language drama. The Paris setting and French elements make it a good fit for France 3.

Shooting is underway on the family saga that’s set in the world of haute couture after WWII. The eight-part drama is written and created by Oliver Goldstick (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives).

Telling the story of an illustrious Paris fashion house emerging from the dark days of the Occupation, The Collection stars Richard Coyle, Tom Riley, Frances de la Tour and Mamie Gummer. The story focuses on two very different brothers: A couturier with a romantic vision he hopes will resuscitate a beleaguered, post-war Paris; and the true but hidden genius behind the Sabine label.

Jenna Thiam, Max Deacon, Irène Jacob, James Cosmo, Alix Poisson, Sarah Parish, Michael Kitchen, Michelle Gomez, Stanley Townsend, Allan Corduner, Alexandre Brasseur, Bethan-Mary James, Patrick Kennedy and Poppy Corby-Tuech also star.

BBC Worldwide is distributing internationally with Anne Thomopoulos, Kate Croft, Pascal Breton, Simon Vaughan, Médéric Albouy and Tomas de Matteis exec producing.
