Listen, anyone who saw Cartoon Network’s Emmy-winning 1998-2005 series The Powerpuff Girls should know better than to call the pint-sized superheroes “Princess.” But that’s just what some unsuspecting dolt does in this clip from Episode 1 of the Cartoon Network’s revival of the popular franchise, which bows in the spring. As with the original, the new Powerpuff Girls revolves around three colorful, sugarcoated kids trying to juggle school and save the world before bedtime.

The Powerpuff Girls 2016The cable net announced the series reboot in June 2014, bringing back one of its most popular brands of all time. Created by Craig McCracken, the series also inspired a 2003 feature film, a 10th anniversary special and a re-imagined CG special, The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed, which aired on Cartoon Network in January 2014 and featured Ringo Starr.

The series reboot features new voices for Blossom (Amanda Leighton), Bubbles (Kristen Li) and Buttercup (Natalie Palamides). Check out this clip from the well-titled debut episode “I Am Not A Princess.”
