EXCLUSIVE: Virginia Madsen and Patrick Warburton have been added to the cast of Safe Neighborhood, the thriller being directed by Chris Peckover. Olivia DeJonge, Levi Miller and Ed Oxenbould are already aboard. Production is already underway in Sydney.

Dacre Montgomery and Aleks Mikic have also joined the cast. XYZ Films is repping North American rights and Versatile is handling international sales at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.

The plot: Set in a quiet American suburb on a snowy evening on the lead up to Christmas, Ashley (DeJonge), the regular babysitter for Deandra (Madsen) and Robert Lerner (Warburton), has to defend their 12-year-old son (Miller) from strangers breaking into the house — only to discover that this is far from a normal home invasion.

The Storm Vision Entertainment and Best Medicine pic is written by Zack Kahn and Peckover. Storm Vision’s Brett Thornquest and Sidonie Abbene and Best Medicine Productions’ Brion Hambel and Paul Jensen are producers, and Steven Matusko, Shane Abbess and Lorenzo De Maio are exec producing.

Said Hambel: “With this stellar group of actors and Chris and Zack’s thrilling script, this promises to be a crazy night for our cast of characters and a crazier ride for the audience.”

Madsen, who was just set to co-star in CBS’ straight-to-series American Gothic, is repped by UTA and Untitled. Warburton, who toplines NBC’s freshman comedy Crowded, is repped by ICM Partners, 3 Arts and Bloom Hergott.
