Pam Fryman Sets 3 Pilot Directing Gigs

Pam Fryman is gearing up for another very busy pilot season. At NBC, the former How I Met Your Mother executive producer is directing and executive producing ensemble comedy pilot Good Fortune, from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s Le Train Train and 20th Century Fox TV. At CBS, she is executive producing and directing romantic comedy pilot My Time/Your Time, from Hilary Winston, HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, Sony TV and CBS TV Studios. Both pilots are hybrid, in the style of CBS’ HIMYM, which was produced by 20th TV.

Additionally, Fryman is set to direct the opening episode of One Day At A Time, the straight-to-series Latino remake of Norman Lear’s classic sitcom for Netflix from Sony TV. She also is considering adding a fourth pilot to her directing slate this season.

Good Fortune focuses on a hyper-structured young woman whose life is upended when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller. HIMYM‘s Matt Zinman and Craig Gerard exec produce alongside Jones and McCormack.

Written by Winston, My Time/Your Time is based on the web series 7P/10E by Avital Ash. It chronicles the relationship of a young couple as they begin dating long distance. Winston, Bays, Thomas and Fryman executive produce the pilot, which has cast Jane Levy as the female lead.

One Day At A Time, which landed a 13-episode order at Netflix last month, co-stars Rita Moreno, and reunites Fryman with another HIMYM alum, Gloria Calderon Kellett who is co-writing the reimaging of the 1975 series with Mike Royce (Everybody Loves Raymond). The multi-camera comedy revolves around a Cuban-American family, centering on a recently separated former military mom who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the “help” of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider. Moreno will play the grandmother.

Fryman is repped by ICM Partners and Holmes Weinberg, PC.
