‘Outsiders’ Premiere Logs Record Ratings In L+3 For WGN America
The Tuesday premiere of WGN America’s new drama series Outsiders logged 3.9 million total viewers in Live+3, making it the most-watched episode of original programming ever for the network. Including encores during its premiere week, Outsiders drew 5.5 million total viewers, according to WGN America.
In Live+3, the 9 PM telecast was up 66% in total viewers and 85% among adults 25-54 over same-day viewing. On Tuesday night, Outsiders delivered 2.8 million total viewers.
Outsiders, produced by Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios, is a tale of struggle for power and control set in the rugged hills of Appalachia. The 13-episode, one-hour drama explores an epic battle as the Farrell Clan, a tightknit family of renegades who have lived atop Shay Mountain for more than 200 years, fight to defend their land and way of life from the town below and anyone who would dare challenge them.
The ensemble cast includes David Morse, Thomas M. Wright, Ryan Hurst, Joe Anderson, Gillian Alexy, Kyle Gallner, Christina Jackson, Francie Swift and Phyllis Somerville.
Outsiders is created and written by Peter Mattei, who executive produces alongside Fedora Entertainment’s Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer and Touchy Feely Films’ Paul Giamatti and Dan Carey.
