‘The Arrangement’ Picked Up To Series By E!

E! has picked up its pilot The Arrangement to series, which will mark the network’s second original scripted show, joining The Royals. The Arrangement was the only scripted pilot E! had ordered since The Royals; the network now has picked up to series two of its three scripted pilots to date.

The Arrangement, which has received a 10-episode pickup, drew a lot of attention at the pilot stage due to some similarities between its plot and Tom Cruise, his ties to Scientology and his relationship with Katie Holmes, leading to the network issuing a statement that the project was not inspired by anyone in particular. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, The Arrangement follows Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista), a beautiful young actress who auditions for the female lead in a summer blockbuster playing opposite Kyle West (Josh Henderson), one of the world’s top action movie stars. Kyle’s mentor is Terrence Anderson (Michael Vartan), who runs a self-help organization called the Institute of The Higher Mind with his wife Deann (Lexa Doig). After Megan’s amazing audition leads to an incredible first date (and more) with Kyle, her Cinderella story takes an unexpected turn when she is presented with a contract that would change her life forever.

The pilot was written by Jonathan Abrahams (Mad Men), who will serve as executive producer on the series. Jimmy Fox of Objective Productions USA, an All3Media company, along with Layla Smith and Gregory Lipstone of All3Media America, will also serve as executive producers. The pilot was directed by Ken Olin.
