EXCLUSIVE: Clive Owen is set to star in Andrew Niccol’s Anon, a psychological thriller with sci-fi elements. Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur’s K5 Media Group and K5 Film are producing and financing. Owen, so good recently as the drug-addled doctor in Cinemax’s The Knick for director Steven Soderbergh, plays a detective in a world with no privacy, ignorance and anonymity. It is the end of crime. However, when Owen’s character stumbles on a young woman who doesn’t exist, he discovers it may not be the end of crime but the beginning.
Owen is next starring in Luc Besson’s sci-fi epic Valerian. Andrew Niccol, who has proved himself a master of this kind of mise-en-scene before in the likes of Gattaca and The Truman Show, writes and directs. CAA packaged the film and will rep its domestic rights.
“Andrew is a master storyteller whose work is always compelling, entertaining and exhilarating as well as having something to say,” Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur told Deadline. “With Clive’s consistently electric on-screen presence, we know that Anon will be the best in crossover cinema for the growing global audiences of this brand of smart, big screen sci-fi.”
K5 also has Adam Driver-Golshifteh Farahani starrer Paterson from Jim Jarmusch on their slate.
Clive Owen and Andrew Niccol are both repped by CAA.
