‘The Flash’ Ratings Top Slot In Demo For 1st Time, ‘Grinder’ Down On Slow Night

It was a slow night on the Big 4 on Tuesday with both ABC and CBS encore-heavy, but things sped up for The Flash (1.4/5) and the CW. With an 8% rise in adults 18-49 over last week and the return of villain Reverse Flash, the WBTV series was the top original show in the 8-9 PM slot and tied a repeat of powerhouse NCIS in the demo. With last night’s NCIS encore dropping 42% from last week’s original, this is the first time The Flash has been in the top spot at 8 PM.

Of course, even with an 8% bop up in viewership to 3.67 million, the Scarlett Speedster was far behind the audience of 11.89 million that made CBS’ NCIS the night’s most-watched show in primetime. An all-encore CBS topped the night in viewers with 8.51 million, while NBC was No. 1 in the demo with 1.5/5 – with no show reaching a 2.0 rating.

With a repeat of the DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow (0.6/2) pilot filling out the rest of the CW’s night, the net came third overall among 18-49s, matching Fox and beating ABC’s 0.8/2.

ABC’s only originals of the night were Marvel’s Agent Carter (0.9/3), which was even with last week’s two-hour Season 2 premiere, and the soft debut of the latest installment of hidden camera show What Would You Do? (0.7/2). In Live+3 results, that Agent Carter premiere saw a 44% jump from its Live+Same Day numbers to a 1.3 rating – that the third best the show has ever done in delayed viewing.

NBC had the top show of the night with 10 PM’s Chicago Fire (1.8/6), which as even with its January 19 episode. Hollywood Game Night (1.2/4) dipped 8% in the demo from last week but even with its early numbers, so we could see an adjustment again. Chicago Med (1.6/7) was also even with last week. Fox’s full schedule saw New Girl (1.2/4) slip 8%, Grandfathered (0.9/3) even, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.0/3) dip 9%, and The Grinder (0.7/2) down 13% in the demo.
