Returning to the stage for the first time in two decades, Justified six-season star and Emmy nominee Timothy Olyphant will headline the Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere of Oscar nominee Kenneth Lonergan’s Hold On To Me Darling. Performances are set to begin February 24, with opening night April 3 at the Atlantic’s Chelsea mainstage, the Linda Gross Theater.

2015 New logo orange AThe Atlantic describes Hold On To Me this way: “On learning of his mother’s death, world famous country and Western star Strings McCrane (Olyphant) begins questioning the meaning of his life and what it all adds up to. Determined to abandon his celebrity and career, he moves back to his hometown in Tennessee. It doesn’t go well. This compelling new play from acclaimed playwright Kenneth Lonergan examines the costs of fame, fortune and narcissism in pursuit of the American Dream.”

Olyphant, now co-starring with Rob Lowe on Fox’s The Grinder, last appeared onstage as a Christmas elf in David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries. The Hold On To Me cast includes Adelaide Clemens (Rectify), Jonathan Hogan (As Is), Jenn Lyon (Fish In The Dark), Keith Nobbs (Lombardi), and C.J. Wilson (Bronx Bombers). Atlantic AD Neil Pepe directs.

Kenneth LonerganOn Sunday Deadline reported exclusively that Lonergan’s latest film, Manchester By The Sea, was picked up at Sundance by Amazon in a $10 million domestic deal. The Matt Damon-produced film stars Casey Affleck, Kyle Chandler and Michelle Williams. Writer-director Lonergan, who just signed with WME, made his double-duty film debut with You Can Count On Me and co-wrote the screenplays for Analyze This and Gangs Of New York. He was represented last season on Broadway with a revival of his play This Is Our Youth.

Hold On To Me Darling will feature sets by Walt Spangler, costumes by Suttirat Larlarb, lighting by Brian MacDevitt, sound by David Van Tieghem, dialects by Stephen Gabis and casting by Telsey + Company.
