‘A Dog’s Purpose’ Movie Based On Bestselling Book To Unleash In 2017
Universal Pictures has set director Lasse Hallström’s A Dog’s Purpose, based on the bestselling book of the same name, for release on January 27, 2017, dropping it in a time where the date is pretty clear for new releases. The only other title on that date is a horror film, Resident Evil 6 from Sony.
A Dog’s Purpose, from Amblin Entertainment and Walden Media, is the story (originally authored by W. Bruce Cameron) about a dog who realizes the meaning of his own existence through his own re-incarnation that puts him into the lives of many owners. The family film stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juilet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall.
The project is being produced by Gavin Polone (Zombieland, TV’s Gilmore Girls). Alan Blomquist and Mark Sourian are executive producing.
