Cinedigm Acquires Comedy Pic ‘Amateur Night’

Cinedigm has acquired North American rights to Amateur Night, the comedy starring real-life husband and wife Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen. Husband/wife team Joe Syracuse and Lisa Addario (Surf’s Up, Parental Guidance) wrote and directed the pic inspired by their own lives, and Cinedigm plans a mid-2016 theatrical release.

The pic, formerly titled Drive, She Said, centers on Guy (Biggs), an out-of-work and down-on-his-luck expectant father desperate to find a job to support his family. At the urging of his wife (Mollen), he answers a Craigslist ad to be a driver, a gig that turns out to be for three charismatic call girls. Ashley Tisdale, Steven Weber, Cedric Yarbrough, Adrian Voo and Janet Montgomery co-star.

The film was produced by Diego Del Rio Toca, Jorge Garcia Castro, Shana Eddy-Grouf and Mary Pat Bentel. Samuel Goldberg, Michael Kessel, Jackie Levine, Meyer Orbach and Tony Parker are executive producers. The deal was negotiated by Cinedigm’s Kristin Harris and UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.

The Works reps international rights and will sell the film at the upcoming EFM in Berlin.
