Sundance: Sting To Play Fest For James Foley Docu

A Kennedy Center honorary, Emmy winner and Oscar nominee is coming to the Robert Redford founded festival this year. Rumored for a few weeks, it is now official – Sting will be playing the Sundance Film Festival on January 23 in a performance in support of Jim: The James Foley Story.

The Police frontman has co-penned the tune “Empty Chair” for the film that is in completion this year in the U.S. Documentary category. Sting will be on-staged at the Sundance ASCAP Music Café with guest J. Ralph joining him for his set.

A look at the life and death of the journalist who was killed by ISIS in the summer of 2014, Jim will have its world premiere at Sundance on the same Saturday as the Sting show. The Brian Oakes directed docu was picked up by HBO back in early January. The film is set to debut on the premium cabler on February 6.
