Fremantle Sets Spanish ‘Web Therapy’; Mexico Game For ‘Boom!’ – NATPE Briefs

FremantleMedia and Movistar+ are bringing Web Therapy to Spain. The pair will produce a Spanish-language version of Lisa Kudrow’s improvised series in 16 episodes. It will begin airing in February on Movistar+’s new channel #0 and be distributed globally by FremantleMedia International. The Spanish version includes stand-up comedian and TV host, Eva Hache who plays narcissistic therapist Rebeca Miller. Her husband of dubious ethics, Federico Pinto, is played by Gonzalo de Castro while cast regulars and “weekly” patients include Quim Gutierrez, Hugo Silva, Ana Milán and Martiño Rivas. Fremantle Spain is the second offshore group to produce a local version of the show following Fremantle Poland.

A series of hour-long episodes will be produced locally and stripped across the week in an access prime slot throughout the summer. KI introduced Boom! to international buyers a few years ago at Mip-TV and has since had more than 400 episodes commissioned worldwide. The trivia challenge sees viewers attempt to defuse a fake bomb on stage by answering questions and cutting a wire. If they make a mistake, the device goes off, spraying the contestants with a harmless substance. Viewers can also play along at home. The format was created by Keshet, Ido Rosenblum and July August Productions
