Average Movie Ticket Price Rises To Record $8.43 For 2015

The National Association of Theatre Owners said today that average ticket price for full-year 2015 was $8.43, up a bit more than 3% from 2014, which was at $8.17. The increase in the average outlay has been on a steady upswing in the past few quarters, owing to the premium seating and formats for blockbusters from Jurassic World and Avengers: Age Of Ultron in the summer to Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the always-busy winter.

In Q4 2015, the average ticket price was $8.70, up from $8.30 year-over-year. That marks the fourth consecutive quarter with price increases.

NATO figures represent the average outlay for all theaters and times, not just the prices for blockbusters at big-city venues on weekend nights.
