Lionsgate is back in business with Tyler Perry and Madea, making a deal for his next pic,Boo! A Madea Halloween, which now has an October 21 release date. Perry will write, produce, direct and star in the film, whose origins date back to when Perry and Chris Rock teamed to make Boo! — a fictitious Madea Halloween movie that was featured in Rock’s 2014 film Top Five. Lionsgate afterward approached Perry and floated the idea that they make the movie for real.

The plot of the actual movie, now in production in Atlanta: Madea winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens. Bella Thorne, Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Andre Hall, Yousef Erakat, Lexy Panterra, Diamond White, Liza Koshy, Brock O’Hurn, Jimmy Tatro, JC Caylen, Kian Lawley and Mike Tornabene co-star.

Ozzie and Will Areu are producers alongside Perry.

Lionsgate last released a Madea film in 2013, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas, which made $52.5 million at the North American box office. That was the last of six Madea films in a relationship that began in 2004 and kicked off with Diary Of A Mad Black Woman.
