‘Fast 8’ Rolls Into New York City With Official Title, Release Window

Clear your calendars, people — the eighth installment of the Fast And Furious series hits theaters in April 2017 with the official title of Fast 8. That news comes courtesy of Vin Diesel’s Instagram page, where the face of the franchise posted the first official poster over the weekend:

No official plot synopsis has been announced, but the poster does confirm previous reports that Fast 8 will take place at least partly in New York City. Recent rumors also hold that Universal is interested in filming in Cuba, now that the U.S. embargo against the country has been relaxed to allow for certain kinds of travel and commerce.

Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray is directing Fast 8, with the full cast, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham, expected to return. Aside from Tokyo Drift, it will be the first installment made without  co-star Paul Walker, killed in a car crash during a break from the Furious 7 shoot. Diesel has said on more than one occasion that Fast 8 will form the first installment of a trilogy intended to bring the series to a conclusion after 10 films. Neil Moritz is producing with Diesel.
