Warner Bros. Taps Pam Lifford To Oversee Consumer Products

Brad Globe said back in August that he planned to step down as longtime head of Warner Bros Consumer Products. Now we know who will replace him when he leaves next month.

Pam Lifford, whose resume includes a 12-year stint handling consumer products at Disney, will become WBCP President on February 1. She’ll report to Diane Nelson who’s President of DC Entertainment as well as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Lifford will be responsible for the studio’s growing toy and merchandise licensing business with properties including Batman and Superman, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Looney Tunes, and Scooby-Doo,

In addition to the studio’s established characters, Lifford will shape sales strategies for upcoming movies and shows from DC Entertainment and J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. She’ll also collaborate with Turner’s Cartoon Network and Boomerang “to support and build the Company’s overall kids’ businesses,” Warner Bros says.

Nelson says that Lifford’s “experience managing large consumer brands and proven track record building innovative, globally successful licensing and merchandising businesses will be invaluable as we look to maximize our powerful slate of content and our entire vault of intellectual properties.”

Lifford was in charge of fashion and home products at Disney when she left in 2012, following a controversial reorganization that resulted in several departures.

She joins Warner Bros. from  Quiksilver, a specialist in clothing for surfers and snowboarders, where she was EVP of Global Licensing.  The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September as it struggled to keep up with changing fashions and growing competition.

Globe has been at Warner Bros. since 2005 after coming over from DreamWorks SKG, where he launched the company’s consumer products division. He worked with Steven Spielberg for 20 years; prior to DreamWorks he was at Amblin, where he also launched the consumer products division and did a little movie called Jurassic Park.
